Skill choice[]

Upon completing the quest, players choose the skill that these rewards go towards. These rewards usually come in the form of items, like lamps or books, and they allow choosing the same skill multiple times.

It is highly recommended to put this experience into skills that are hard, slow, or expensive to train, such as Prayer, Smithing, Agility, Crafting, or Herblaw.

Quest Choices XP reward Skill choices Level req.
Legend's Quest 4 Agility, Attack, Crafting, Defense, Herblaw, Hits, Magic, Prayer, Smithing, Strength, Thieving, Woodcutting 107 Quest Points, 56 Magic, 52 Mining, 50 Agility, 50 Crafting, 50 Smithing, 50 Strength, 50 Thieving, 50 Woodcutting, 45 Herblaw, 42 Prayer

* In addition to the forced Crafting experience, the Observatory Quest can reward additional experience depending on which constellation was last observed during the quest. Some constellations reward specific items rather than skill experience. The observed constellation can be rerolled to effectively choose the reward.
** The quest is glitched in that it gives a message if the player's level is low, but still performs the action.

No experience[]

The following quests provide no experience upon completion, however specific activities therein may still give experience:

Many of these quests are precursors to pay-to-playreleased in 2002 — and they don't reward experience in members skills even if such a reward may otherwise be appropriate.

Before Influence was replaced by Quest Points, Black Knights' Fortress also rewarded Thieving experience, despite the skill being unimplemented at the time.[1]

Trivia[]

  • If you have 100% fatigue, you will still gain reward experience. However, this does not apply to Biohazard. This is an oversight as quest experience rewards should not generate fatigue.
  • Unlike its successors, almost all quests in RuneScape Classic reward skill experience based on the player's level. However, it is important to note that:
    • Druidic Ritual rewards a flat 250 experience (enough to reach level 3) since the quest is the precursor to training Herblaw.
    • Fishing Contest uses a different formula depending whether the player's Fishing level is above or below 24.
  • In the early days of RSC, many fan sites wrote quest guides knowing that most quests gave skill experience, but didn't know exactly how much experience. So, they would label it as "some experience". Others misbelieved that quests gave experience regardless of the player's level.
